The planning process for any type or size of wedding can be overwhelming. Discovering the perfect location, hiring the right vendors, and coming up with a budget can be difficult to organize and execute — especially when you have a social life, your career, and your engagement to balance at the same time!
It’s completely normal if you feel anxious when it comes to planning your big day. The core of our work here at Blush is ensuring that our clients or anyone who comes across our blog have the most seamless planning process possible. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of useful wedding planning tips to help you get organized and ready for your big day.
Of course, as wedding planners, we are entrenched in this work every day. So we recruited one of our brides, Margaret, to help us pinpoint the three things she wish she knew before planning her wedding that would’ve made her process easier!
Read on to discover key insider secrets that will ease your stress and result in an enjoyable experience from start to finish!
Margaret told us that one of the most important things to do when you start planning your wedding is to create a realistic budget. “Get the most important things crossed off your list first,” she said. That includes things like…
We have to agree with Margaret! When we work with clients, we always work with them to create a realistic budget first. We do that by asking them what their priorities are, what their vision is, and what their budget range is. From there, we can start prioritizing booking the most important things first before worrying about the smaller things.
Only after booking the non-negotiables on the list will we reevaluate and rearrange the budget for the secondary things.
We know that budgets can feel pretty overwhelming, so we created a Blush Budget Template for couples looking fog for a helping hand! You can access it by clicking here.
When Margaret’s guests started booking their weekend stay, she realized that all the closest hotels to her venue were completely booked. “Inform your guest of the hotel options so they can make a timely decision,” she said.
In addition to this piece of advice, Margaret suggests considering the distance between your chosen hotels, the ceremony, and the reception. If these three areas are quite far from each other, guests may need that extra time to find car rentals or figure out other ways of transportation. Our extra input: It’s also important to know so you can schedule any travel time in your wedding timeline.
Pro-tip: If you inquire with hotels around your venue ahead of time, they may work with you to give your guests an exclusive wedding guest discount!
Margaret’s third tip is related to the second tip. She said, “Consider if you’re not staying near your venue and organize your own transportation.”
Making the long drive from the venue to their stay was something they weren’t going to like doing, so they made sure to hire transportation. It worked out well for them because they were able to enjoy their wedding and dance the night away! Plus, having been up since 7 AM and ending the night at midnight was more exhausting than Margaret anticipated.
“We had a driver drive us to our stay at the end of our wedding and it was great,” Margaret told us.
The wedding planning process can be full of unknowns and things will happen that you don’t anticipate. But in the end, it’s important to take a deep breath and focus on prioritizing what will make you the happiest on your wedding day. By following these wedding planning tips, you’re one step closer to a more seamless planning process and enjoyable day!
One extra tip we want to offer is to hire a wedding planner!
