Is my wedding date available?

This one is pretty self explanatory and will probably be established pretty early on, but just make sure to ask this question and make sure they are able to shoot on your wedding day!

What’s your style?

Every photographer has a unique style. Some may prefer candid shots that capture the spontaneous laughter and tears, while others lean towards artistic compositions. Make sure your photographer’s style aligns with your vision, whether it’s classic, modern, or somewhere in between.

Do you have a portfolio?

Reviewing a photographer’s portfolio gives you a glimpse into their skills, creativity, and versatility. Look for consistency and a knack for capturing the essence of each couple’s story.

Will you be the one shooting my wedding? If not, can I meet the photographer who will be before my wedding day?

Some photographers work as a team, so this question is pretty important to ask to make sure you know who you are hiring! You’ll want to make sure you at least know who will be shooting your big day and make sure their style aligns with yours!

Have you ever worked at our venue?

It is totally okay for your photographer to not have worked at your wedding venue, just make sure to ask about their process of scouting out the venue before they begin shooting. Some photographers arrive early on wedding day to make sure they’ve scouted out the best spots and others visit beforehand.

Do you shoot with film or just digitally?

Film photos are coming back! If this is something you are interested in, make sure to ask your photographer if they shoot with film. Not all photographers do!

What is included in your packages?

Get to know your photographers packages to make sure you decide on the one that is the best fit for you, as well as the correct budget!

Are engagement photos included in my package?

Normally, this is already outlined in the packages but if you don’t see any mention of a engagement photos it doesn’t hurt to ask if it is included or not! Most photographer do include engagement photos.

How long after the wedding will we receive the images? How will they be delivered?

Patience is tough, especially when you’re excited to relive your special day through photos. Get a clear idea of when you can expect to see your pictures and how the delivery process works.

How much of a deposit do you require? When is it due?

This is a very important question to ask. On a budget or not, you always want to know what you’re paying, how much, and when.

Do you accept multiple payments?

Make sure that if this is something that you would need, that you make that very clear with your photographer.

Can we request a list of specific shots?

While photographers have a creative eye, you might have some specific shots in mind. Ask if they’re open to taking requests and how you can communicate your desired shots effectively.
