When it comes to weddings, the role of the Maid of Honor is not JUST a title. It’s an amazing opportunity to be the bride’s support system throughout her wedding journey. If you are a Maid of Honor, congratulations! In this blog, we will be guiding you through your responsibilities and help you make the bride’s big day an unforgettable experience.
As the Maid of Honor, you become the bride’s rock and trusted advisor. From attending dress fittings to offering a listening ear during stressful moments, your presence and assistance will allow her to focus on creating magical memories. By providing emotional support, you will not only ease her worries but also make her feel cherished and loved throughout the entire wedding planning process.
The most important piece of advice we could give a Maid of Honor is to have a conversation with the bride to make sure you know how to best support the bride during the whole process. You don’t want to add to the stress, so make sure you know what the boundaries are!
Ah yes, one of the most anticipated moments throughout the whole entire wedding planning! As the Maid of Honor, normally, you would help the bride say “yes” to the dress by going with the bride and giving her honest feedback throughout the fittings! Throughout the fittings, you can help the bride with zipping her up and putting dresses back on the hangers!
Wedding planning is already stressful enough, take some stress off the bride by serving as the main point of contact to the bridal party, family, and even guests. This will help take so much stress off of the bride and will also save her so much time as well!
The bachelorette party and bridal shower will be one of your biggest duties throughout the entire wedding planning process! All the way from reaching out to all the attendees of both parties to coordinating everything, you’ll get to get a small glimpse of the wedding planner life.
Plan a shower and bach party that you KNOW the bride will love! Make sure its appropriate for their taste and lifestyle! Overall, make sure you guys have fun!!
If the couple decides they want to have a maid of honor speech during the reception, you should prepare your speech before the big day. Make sure it is appropriate and try to not embarrass the couple during your speech! You can start coming up with ideas in the months leading up to the wedding!
Make sure you drop off any items needed for the reception. If there are any items like decor, gift boxes, guest books, etc. those should be dropped off by the Maid of Honor or delegated to someone trustworthy by the Maid of Honor!
This one is really important!! You want to make sure that the bride is eating. They will not enjoy their day to it maximum potential if they are on an empty stomach, especially if they will be drinking! A lot of times, the combination of nerves and excitement can lead to the bride not wanting to eat but try to make sure they nibble on something!
Make sure that the bride has everything she needs to get into her gown. From jewelry all the way to the shoes. The worst thing ever is scrambling to find an earring or a shoe on the biggest day of the bride’s life! Avoid the stress and make sure everything is ready to go!
It’s time for you to hire your first vendor… your wedding planner
