Vendor Spotlight Blog from HanEmbroiders
HanEmbroiders is a small, woman-owned embroidery business that I built up from scratch after I turned a lifelong hobby into a career. I embroider a handful of things from backpacks to bridal sneakers. I am a one woman show so I take care of absolutely everything myself, from the hand embroidery to admin to strips to the post office (every freaking day!)
My services are necessary for the big day: I embroider custom bridal sneakers, in a variety of different styles. I guess you could call saving the bride’s feet on her big day a service! Many brides fall into the trap of only getting a pair of heels for their big day because they’re super focused on the wedding photos/how they’ll look but what I feel is much more important is how they will feel 6 hours into their wedding day when their toes start to numb from their 5 inch heels. I’ve seen many brides just go barefoot halfway through their reception and I worry about their feet when everyone is drinking/glasses can be dropped and accidents can happen. I would rather be over prepared and have a pair of sneakers ready just in case, and why not get them embroidered with your bridal bouquet or your dog’s face (or cat!).
Different bridal sneakers will add different elements to bridal outfits. For example, some of the most popular sneakers that I offer are called the Something Blue Platform Bridal Converse – these shoes can serve as the bride’s something blue and they are also platform sneakers so they will give the bride a little extra height on her big day. Another one of my bestsellers this season are the custom pet bridal vans – these shoes can be embroidered with up to 3 of the bride and groom’s furbabies, surrounded with flowers in the colorscheme of their choosing. This would add some character to the bride’s outfit for the big day, and I constantly hear from past brides that their wedding guests were talking about these shoes non stop at their weddings. Being able to have a small piece of your beloved pets with you on your big day would give you a super unique peace of mind and feeling of comfort on such an important day of your life.
The products that are available for purchase in my Etsy store range from $150 to $385. The great thing about custom hand embroidered sneakers is that even the ones that cost less are still totally unique and are able to be personalized to the bride’s specifications. I would like to just add that I totally understand that the shoes that I create may not be accessible to everybody because of their price point. I am always striving to keep my prices as low as possible but each shoe takes hours to create and the cost of the shoes themselves are included in the prices of all of my listings. I will be hosting a few giveaways on my Instagram page before the peak of wedding season this year so that more people could have the chance to wear some custom embroidered sneakers on their big day.
I would say one misconception people have is that they can order a couple of days/weeks before their big day. I don’t have embroidered shoes sitting around waiting to be shipped out, each design is totally custom and crafted to the bride’s specifications. My current processing times are around 6 weeks and I do ask brides to schedule their shoes to arrive in plenty of time before their final dress fitting. I receive several messages on a daily basis asking if I could get shoes finished and shipped out within a few days to somebody who has just discovered my work and desperately wants shoes for their big day – sadly this just isn’t possible because of the number of orders I’m working on and due to that fact that I’m a one woman show. Another misconception may be that my shoes are quite expensive to just be worn for one day – but here’s the best part about custom bridal shoes: they can be worn for years and years after your big day! I take so much time and care with the work that I do and in the 6+ years that I’ve been embroidering shoes. I have never had anybody complain about a single loose thread. As long as the sneakers are well taken care of, they could last a lifetime and serve as a reminder of your big day every time you slip them onto your feet.
