Shopping for your wedding dress can be equal parts exhilarating and terrifying. From not feeling the most comfortable in your own skin to having to hear others’ opinion on what looks good (and what doesn’t look good) on you, there’s a lot that can turn this experience sour.
Weddings are a celebration of love, and this should apply to wedding dress shopping too. Here are some of our favorite ways to make sure that you are surrounded by self-love and confidence during your hunt for the dress.
Comparison is the thief of joy and sometimes we find ourselves mindlessly scrolling and comparing our lives to the highlight reels of others. If you can’t part with social media in the days leading up to your wedding dress appointments, consider muting a few accounts that might trigger self doubt and filling your feed with more body positive accounts.
Remember, the more people you bring with you, the more opinions you’ll receive. Be sure to surround yourself with a few of your favorite people who you know will lift you up and cheer you on. They’ll be honest, but kind.
If you have any concerns or insecurities, let your consultant know. No one knows the dresses in the store better than they do and they can help you find the perfect dress for you.
Trying on different silhouettes will allow you to see what styles flatter your specific body type the most. You might think a specific one won’t flatter you, but you might be surprised once you try it on!
