Do you want to become a DIY (Do It Yourself) Queen? Check out how this Bride, Katie, brought her wedding to life by bringing her art skills forward with a little help from family.

Katie and Jared had their first date at Epcot, the couple both share a great love for Disney. Needless to say, magic was in the air and the two of them blossomed from their first date at Walt Disney World to San Francisco, California where Jared got down on one knee and proposed to Katie on September 15th.

PROPOSAL TO WEDDING DAY

Many of our brides want to DIY certain items for their wedding, not only if it is for a cost-effective reason, but because it’s FUN to get crafty and design items that will be showcased on your big day for all your guests to see. Follow along to see how Katie DIY’d her Wedding from floral to personal items to signage/decor, and favors!

Katie and Jared had a full wedding planned for May 30th, 2020, but with the Covid-19 lockdown, the couple could no longer continue with the original plans. Katie and Jared didn’t want to postpone their wedding date, so they held an intimate wedding ceremony at the Church of the Messiah in Winter Garden, and postponed their reception to September. This has been trending for 2020 weddings. To hold an intimate ceremony on the original date and hold a postponed reception on a later date. Side Note: vendors to consider when holding an intimate ceremony: Photographer/Videographer, Hair/Makeup Stylist, Florist for personals (including bouquets, boutonnieres etc.) ceremony musician/DJ, and an officiant. ????

DIY FLORAL ????

So, we would rarely recommend DIY floral, but Katie’s Sister-In-Law Sarah had a background in floral design so she offered to DIY the personal floral for the ceremony on May 30th! This included the bouquets and boutonnieres. This was a great way to cut costs from contracting a florist for both dates and assign a role to a family member who was thrilled to help. vendors to consider when holding an intimate ceremony: Photographer/Videographer, Hair/Makeup Stylist, Florist for personals (including bouquets, boutonnieres, etc.) ceremony musician/DJ, and an officiant.

Do you own a Cricut and love creating custom designs? You can create custom lettering with your Cricut using premium Vinyl. If you have great handwriting you can free-hand your lettering to personalize the bottoms of wedding shoes and any additional items.

DIY PERSONAL ITEMS

DIY SIGNAGE/DECOR

So often are we overconfident with thinking, “oh I just make that!” But you have to ask yourself do you actually have the time to commit to making this project? Most projects take much longer than we expect, and experts make it look easy. For instance, if you are wanting to make your own signage you need to find the right supplies to craft together what a rental company already has. The last thing you want to do is stress yourself out with DIY projects leading up to your BIG DAY. Katie had time to commit to her projects during “COVID Quarantine” she put together wedding day signage, table numbers, their seating chart, and a personalized guest book.

DIY FAVORS

Your family and friends have traveled from near and far to join you in celebrating one of the biggest and best days of your life! While the overwhelming feelings of love and appreciation might seem impossible to put into words, you can show some of your gratitude with handmade wedding favors. Katie created stickers for her wedding favors in three different designs. These favors were an inexpensive way to thank their wedding guests and personalize an element of their special day in a way that represented them as a couple. DIY Projects can be an absolute blast and add so much of your personal style to a wedding. Certain items may be things you cherish for a lifetime. Always keep in mind that professionals make it look effortless. If you’re going to embark on a DIY adventure, be sure to give yourself a good amount of time so you can enjoy the task and not stress over it.
