Okay ladies, I will be the first to admit that I am the DIY Queen! I absolutely love crafting things together and although I am always up for a crafty challenge, here are 5 things I would NEVER attempt to DIY for a wedding.
1. DIY Florist
Please, NO! Your flowers can make the design of your wedding. This is a major detail you don’t want to mess up! Meet with a few florists and find someone who can help create what you are envisioning, do not try to do it yourself. If you are on a budget and looking for areas to save money consider asking your florist what flowers are seasonal on your wedding date that will be less expensive but will make the same impact as the most expensive blooms you may have in your inspo pics!
2. Table numbers
You will save so much time if you just purchase or rent your table numbers. If you try to DIY this item you will end up spending more money on the supplies to make them than you would if you just purchase a set. Save your time and money on this one!
3. Cake
Let’s just think of your guests for this one. Unless you’ve been on Cake Wars and bake cakes for a living, I would refrain from trying to make this a DIY project. Don’t let a friend or a close relative attempt to make your wedding cake. Instead, enjoy going to cake tastings with your fiancé and find a professional who will blow your guests away with their yummy creation! Check out our favorite cake partners at Sugar Sugar Custom Cake Boutique or Bakers Cottage Cakes!
4. Hair and Makeup
Soooo… I hate to admit this, but I am 100% guilty of this one. I personally thought I could save some money doing my own hair and makeup. I watched youtube videos for weeks and went into work everyday with a new hairstyle as I prepared for my big day. I was very confident as the wedding approached but let me tell you how things changed. The day of the wedding I was so overwhelmed and nervous!! My hands were sweating from the anticipation of meeting my groom and I had one too many mimosas. Luckily, a girl who was one of my coordinators daughter was there helping set up and she just so happened to be going to school to become a hair and makeup artist. She offered to give me a hand while my MOH who is a Broadway actress helped with my makeup. If it weren’t for these two talented ladies, my wedding day would have been ruined!! With that being said, I personally recommend spending the money on hair and makeup. As the bride your only job should be to sit back, relax, and enjoy a few mimosas.
5. Don’t DIY Your Own Planning
Lastly, don’t DIY your own planning! This is YOUR day. The last thing you want is to stress yourself out. Enjoy this moment and this time of your life. Blush coordinators are here to work for you and are ready to bring your love story to life. Let us do the work. After all, we love what we do and seeing our brides happy makes us so happy!
xoxo,
Coordinator
