Happy March! To kick off this month, we would like to introduce to you one of our incredibly talented coordinators, Miss Taylor Curington. She has such a bright personality and has a true passion for weddings.
Have you always wanted to be a wedding coordinator? For as long as I can remember, I knew weddings were my passion and I love every bit of it. In high school, I had helped with my sister’s wedding and that confirmed exactly what I wanted to do. So, from there I applied to Rosen College at the University of Central Florida and obtained a degree in Event Management to pursue my dream of becoming a wedding planner!
How did you start at Blush by Brandee Gaar? I saw a position was open through the Rosen College, and I was so excited as there were not many job opportunities for weddings. I spent days prepping for my interview. I met Brandee at our downtown studio and we talked about my career goals and how Blush came about. I wanted the job so badly, but I didn’t get my hopes up as I knew Brandee had multiple interviews throughout the day. You could just image my excitement when I received a phone call from Brandee a day later offering me the position. I accepted with no hesitation!
What was the first event you ever coordinated? The first event I ever coordinated was in High school. I was president of 2 community service organizations. I coordinated a dinner for a senior citizen community with live entertainment. It was a hit and we continued to have that dinner every year after that.
What is your favorite thing about weddings? I love when brides and grooms exchange their own personal vows. I think it is so sweet and you truly understand the love they have for each other. You can always find me in the back crying and my fellow co-workers making fun of me for it!
Did you plan your own wedding? Still waiting for Shawn!
After being a part of so many weddings is there anything you would change about your own wedding day? I prefer my wedding indoors. That way it is in a controlled environment and I don’t have to worry about weather or temperatures!
What do you do when you aren’t spending your weekends working weddings? I usually go to the Baldwin dog park with my furry friend and then meet up with my boyfriend and friends for Brunch and mimosas after, or as Alison loves to call it “Adult Brunching”. Occasionally I will go to Disney or I just take the day to relax and catch up on my favorite shows.
Is there any advice that you could offer to aspiring wedding coordinators? Always image how you think the day will go in your head, to prepare for the day and prevent any situations that could possibly arise. This way you can determine pre-planned solutions to have the day run smoothly
Tell me about a unique wedding you’ve done. I believe all weddings have something of their own that stands out and is unique. I really find myself to enjoy the cultured weddings. It is very fascinating to see how every culture has different ways to celebrate.
